Integrated marketing consulting firm One Source has announced a nine-day Diwali break for employees under its Happy People Work Harder (HPWH) initiative, marking the ninth consecutive year of the programme.
Introduced in 2018, HPWH is designed around three pillars of employee well-being: financial, mental and physical health. The annual festive break gives employees time away from work to spend with their families and recharge, with the company informing clients, partners and stakeholders in advance about the closure.
The initiative forms part of One Source’s broader approach to employee well-being, which also includes mandatory block leaves every six months. The company said it has recorded average organisation-wide salary appraisals of 23.38 per cent since the initiative began, compared with its previous average of 24.71 per cent.
On the mental well-being front, the company encourages employees to follow what managing director Sandeep Rao describes as an ‘80:120’ approach — achieving 120 per cent results through 80 per cent of the time and effort, rather than relying on prolonged working hours and burnout.
Rao said the initiative recognises that employees’ personal lives and families are central to their well-being, adding that the company aims to build a workplace where people can deliver strong business outcomes without compromising their happiness.
The company’s physical health initiatives include a fitness programme led by a former director of sports and exercise at Ashoka University and former head coach for Adidas India.
Alongside HPWH, One Source follows an internal hiring framework based on Potential, Capability and Willingness (PCW), while its employee- development approach uses the Glow-Grow-Go framework.
Through these measures, the company aims to position rest, personal well-being and professional development as complementary to sustained workplace performance.
