The TechBee initiative from HCL, is a work-integrated higher-education programme, which contributes to the ‘Skill India’ mission of the Government. This early career programme is a part of HCL’s new people strategy for 10+2 students. It arms students with the technical and professional skills required to take on entry-level IT jobs at HCL. The candidates are extensively trained for 12 months to become software engineers. The students also have the option to take a graduation degree programme offered by BITS Pilani and SASTRA University, while on-the-job at HCL.

Students keen to join the programme will have to appear for an entrance test. On completion of the programme, which is a blend of classroom sessions and on-the-job training, the students end up as self-reliant. They are also given a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month during the training period.

TechBee, which was rolled out in 2017, has trained more than 2000 students till date, who are already employed with HCL. The objective is to hire the best talent and equip them with the skills they need to be financially independent at the beginning of their career. TechBee not only assures the students a job at HCL, but gives them an opportunity to earn a degree from a good university.

This training programme is divided into three phases. The foundation training ensures a technical foundation so that the students are job-ready as fast as possible. The technology/domain training equips them with stream-specific knowledge so that they are able to perform all the tasks associated with a particular role. The last phase of role-specific training involves hands-on project work, to give them practical experience.

In addition, all the candidates get to master the basics of information technology, as well as relevant software tools, processes and life skills in the one-year long course.

Candidates who are able to successfully complete the training are assigned projects in the areas of application and infrastructure support, testing and CAD support, at HCL.

Students who score over 90 per cent in the training get their fee waived off totally. Those who score 85 per cent to 90 per cent have to pay only 50 per cent fee.

Interested students from across the country, who have completed class XII in 2019-2020 may apply before June 30. They may visit https://registrations.hcltechbee.com/HCL/ to apply for the HCL SAT entrance exam.
