The Bengaluru police exposed a fake inter-state employment racket, wherein an agency operated by a five-member gang was duping job-seeking techies. The gang from Andhra Pradesh, had apparently charged hefty sums from these techies and even given them false offer letters, before fleeing.
The gang had been specifically targeting those who had lost their jobs during the pandemic and promising them decent jobs. They picked their victims from the resumes uploaded on job portals, such as Naukari.com. The gang of five, three of them in their 20s and two in their 30s, were operating from a cubicle they had hired from ‘rent-a-work’ platform and named their fake company, HR India Services Private Limited.
Many who were carried away by their promises, even recommended their friends and relatives to them. Fake interviews were also conducted in the Embassy Manyata Tech Park, which is amongst the posh techy working destinations in Bangalore.
They used to charge a heavy amount before handing over the offer letters to the job seekers, needless to say most transferred the money to their accounts immediately. However, once the money was transferred the gang used to vanish from the scene.
A week back, Delhi witnessed a fake job racket being busted. In this case, the gang had duped over 15 lakh job seekers of over Rs 1.09 crore. This gang had accessed data from an online exam centre to zero in on their targets.
