Mairead Nayager, CHRO at Diageo, has decided to move on. She will be joining GSK Consumer Healthcare, as its new CHRO. The development was announced by Brian McNamara, CEO, GSK Consumer Healthcare, on social media. Nayager will join the GSK Consumer Healthcare executive leadership team with effect from 1 March, 2022, according to a social-media post by McNamara.
“Mairead has an exceptional track record of working across multiple markets with a highly strategic and commercial focus, alongside a real passion for people and performance,” says McNamara.
Nayager comes with an experience of close to two decades in managing industrial relations and human resources. In her 19-year long professional life, Nayager has worked with Diageo for almost 16. She first joined Diageo Ireland in 2006, as an employee relations manager. After working for three years in the Ireland region, where she served her last position as the HR business partner, Nayager took on the responsibility of managing the HR processes for the African market of Diageo.
She first took up the role of an HR business partner for Africa’s supply functions and new business ventures at Diageo, and a year later, became the HR director for talent and organisational effectiveness at Diageo Africa.
In a year and a half’s time, Nayager’s role expanded to that of HR director for the African regional markets. She was responsible for over 40 markets across West, South and East Africa including Cameroon, Ghana, Ethiopia and Angola.
In 2012, Nayager was made the HR director for Brandhouse Beverages, an alcohol company in South Africa and a joint venture of Diageo, Heineken International and Namibia Breweries. She worked with Brandhouse Beverages for almost three years before moving back to Diageo as the HR director for the Western Europe region, based out of the London office. Ten months into this role, Nayager was elevated as the CHRO at Diageo.
The invaluable experience gained by Nayager during her tenure with Diageo will stand her in good stead as she now enters the consumer healthcare sector.
