Alkem Laboratories has appointed Abhijeet Jain as senior vice president – human resources. He will lead the company’s people agenda, focussing on organisational capability, talent development, employee engagement, and large-scale workforce transformation to support continued business growth.
Jain brings more than three decades of HR leadership across complex, multi-location organisations. His career began in 1994 as an assistant coordinator – training at Samarthan – Centre for Development Support, where he conducted soft skills training for three years. He then moved into corporate HR with Ranutrol Industries as senior assistant – HR from 1997 to 1998, followed by a five-year stint as officer – HRD at Aksh Optifibre from 1998 to 2003.
The 2000s marked a shift to large-scale manufacturing and engineering firms. He served as a senior HR officer at FLEX Industries from 2003 to 2004, deputy manager – HR at RICO Auto Industries, senior officer – HR at UFLEX Group both during 2004-2005, and then as manager – business HR & location IR head at ABB from 2005 to 2008. At ABB, he managed HR and industrial relations for six business units and key projects including Delhi Metro and Rajasthan rural electrification.
From 2008 to 2011, Jain was head – HR & factory manager at Pfizer, where he led culture transformation and systems revamp post-acquisition. He then built the HR, EHS, admin and security functions from ground up at Tata Advanced Systems from 2011 to 2012 for three helicopter-manufacturing plants.
His next role was head-plant HR at TAFE from 2012 to 2016, where he streamlined operations for a tractor manufacturing plant and drove engagement and CSR initiatives. Jain also held a national leadership mandate at Wockhardt overseeing HR for 10 manufacturing plants and one R&D centre.
Most recently, he spent over five years at UltraTech Cement, rising to senior vice president HR in 2025. There he integrated strategic HR and industrial relations with CSR, compliance, and community programmes across multi-location operations.
At Alkem, Jain will leverage this cross-sector experience in strategic HR, talent management, industrial relations, workforce planning and organisational development to align people strategies with business priorities.
