The Odisha government is planning to increase the salaries of Anganwadi and Asha workers. This announcement was made by VK Pandian, chairman, ‘5T Initiative, a technology-led transformative initiative and Nabin Odisha during an event in Nabarangpur district on 9 January 2024.
Due to the valuable work done by Anganwadi and Asha workers, the Odisha government is planning to raise their salaries soon. Additionally, the cooks in Anganwadi centres will receive increased monthly incentives.
Furthermore, the government is considering the possibility of salary increments for other essential roles, such as community centre employees, master book-keepers (MBKs) engaged in the livelihood mission, and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives or ANMs.
There are also discussions about raising the monthly pension for elderly individuals under the Madhubabu Pension Scheme.
Pandian spent a whole day visiting Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Koraput districts, where he reviewed various development projects and talked to the local people. During a gathering called Ama Odisha Ama Nabin in Raighar, he discussed the government’s efforts to improve the lives of grassroots workers. Approximately 10,000 people from the Umerkot assembly constituency attended the meeting.
This 5T initiative of the Odisha government focuses on five important things: teamwork, transparency, technology, time and transformation. The goal is to make the government work better and provide public services more efficiently. It’s all about using modern practices to improve how things are done and ensuring that the government is accountable and transparent.
