Internshala, a career-tech platform, paints a rosy picture for internship seekers in India, revealing a staggering 200 per cent increase in opportunities over the past five years! This report breaks down the current internship landscape, offering insights into what students can expect in 2024.

Business Takes the Crown: 2023 saw business development and management reign supreme, commanding a whopping 44 per cent of all internships. Marketing, sales, digital marketing, and customer support roles flourished, while engineering followed closely at 20 per cent, offering tech-focused opportunities in programming, AutoCAD, and web development.

Virtual World, Real Work: With 48 per cent of internships going virtual, work-from-home flexibility is the new norm. However, 42 per cent remain in-office, providing students with diverse experiences. The average stipend in 2023 was a respectable 8,000 per month, with some lucky students scoring a cool 1,35,000 rupees!

Learning From the Best: 23 per cent of internships come with the sweet bonus of pre-placement offers (PPOs) for stellar performers. Skills like verbal English, MS Excel, and social media marketing are highly sought-after, popping up in 4% of internship postings.

Tech Grads Rule the Roost: Among shortlisted applicants, B.Tech graduates took the lead at 33 per cent, demonstrating a strong tech talent pool. Recent graduates and third-year students held their own, representing 23 per cent and 22 per cent respectively.

More Than Just Work: Employers are sweetening the deal with perks like internship certificates, recommendation letters, flexible hours, five-day work weeks, and even free snacks and drinks! These offerings make internships not just professionally enriching but also personally rewarding.

Future Brightens for Internship Seekers: Internshala founder and CEO Sarvesh Agrawal remarks, “We’ve seen a remarkable 3x growth in internship opportunities since 2018, and a 1000x increase over the past decade!”
