In an industry long defined by relentless schedules and demanding hours, leading Indian real estate developer Casagrand is reshaping the traditional work dynamic. The Chennai-headquartered firm has officially rolled out a new 8 AM to 4 PM schedule, transitioning away from standard office hours to champion employee wellbeing and modern work-life balance.
This initiative redefines workplace productivity by prioritising focused, intentional work during office hours while making space for personal life outside of work. By encouraging a “start-early, finish-early” routine, Casagrand aims to demonstrate that a sustainable corporate environment can thrive even within the fast-paced real estate sector.
The new schedule delivers several direct advantages for employees. Starting at 8 AM allows staff to travel before peak morning traffic, significantly reducing commute times and easing daily stress. Ending the workday at 4 PM frees up late afternoon hours for personal hobbies, fitness routines, and quality time with family. Ultimately, this structured eight-hour schedule supports sustained productivity and helps prevent burnout.
Addressing the initiative, Sumanth Krishna R, director at Casagrand, emphasised that a defined and fruitful work-life balance was crucial for employees to perform at their best. He noted that conventional work hours often left staff exhausted, particularly when combined with the added stress of peak-hour traffic, while offering little time for recreation, fitness, or family. He explained that the company had opted for unconventional hours because employee wellbeing was essential to building a happy, engaged, and productive workforce, framing the 8 AM to 4 PM shift as a practical step toward helping employees maximise their time outside of work and maintain a healthier lifestyle.
This schedule adjustment builds on Casagrand’s broader commitment to its workforce, joining existing perks such as all-expenses-paid international trips through its Profit-Share Bonanza programme, comprehensive healthcare coverage, and an open-door management culture.
Casagrand holds a dominant presence in Chennai’s residential real estate market, accounting for roughly 25% of project launches and 18% of demand between 2017 and mid-2025 according to CBRE.
