Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has appointed M Sridhar as director – human resources on its board. He assumed charge on 22 October, 2026, after serving as executive director – human resources at the company’s corporate office in New Delhi.

Sridhar joined BHEL as an engineer trainee in 1990 and brings over 36 years of experience across manufacturing, commercial operations, project execution, industrial relations and human resource management.

During his career at BHEL, he has held several leadership positions at the company’s Hyderabad unit and corporate office. His responsibilities have spanned turbine and compressor manufacturing, contracts management, marketing, productivity, planning and development, erection and construction, central dispatch and industrial relations.

Before his elevation, Sridhar headed BHEL’s corporate human resources function as executive director – HR. In this role, he contributed to the formulation and implementation of HR policies, strengthening performance management systems and advancing strategic people initiatives.

His experience across technical, commercial and HR functions gives him a broad understanding of BHEL’s operational requirements and workforce priorities. As director – HR, he will oversee the company’s human resources agenda, with a focus on HR policies, performance management, organisational development and people-centric initiatives.

Sridhar holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from CBIT, Osmania University, Hyderabad, and an MTech in CAD/CAM from JNTU, Hyderabad. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from XLRI, Jamshedpur.

His appointment brings an experienced company veteran to BHEL’s board as the public-sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise continues to focus on organisational development and workforce priorities.
