Gupshup expanded its workforce by 20%

Conversational AI firm, Gupshup has expanded its workforce by 20 per cent, bringing its employee count to 1,400. The planned expansion is aimed at supporting the company’s growth across key regions, including India, Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe.

As part of its global expansion strategy, the company is actively seeking top talent across engineering, product development, marketing and customer-support roles.

The decision comes as the company experienced a 40 per cent year-on-year growth in 2023, with some international markets showing a doubling in growth.

The growth was largely driven by an increasing demand for engaging customers through conversational advertising, marketing, and support on messaging channels.

While India remains a key market for Gupshup, regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Europe have emerged as significant growth areas over the past three years. The demand for generative AI-powered conversational experiences has led to a doubling of the company’s team size in Brazil and intensified hiring in China, the GCC region, Indonesia, Malaysia and Turkey.

Furthermore, in the upcoming fiscal year, Gupshup plans to strengthen its engineering and go-to-market teams, followed by enhancements in product development and customer support across its operating regions. The company has also seen an increase in the number of women in its workforce, particularly in senior leadership roles in India, with a 15 per cent rise this year. Gupshup’s internship programme has contributed to this growth, with 22 per cent of hires and 33 per cent of interns being women.

Gupshup’s expanding customer base includes leading global brands such as L’Oréal, P&G, Grupo Carso, GoJek, Nestlé, Petromin and Netflix.
