Reddit, the American social-media platform, which is home to thousands of communities, is all set to expand its India team and strengthen its presence in the country. The San Francisco-based platform has already begun hiring talent in the operations, policy, strategy, community management, growth, finance and other areas, as reported by Moneycontrol. Some of the roles offer flexibility, although no official announcement has been made about the expansion as yet.

The communities on the platform are growing rapidly, especially those pertaining to cricket, technology, finance and Bollywood. India is reportedly home to Reddit’s second-largest user base worldwide.

The year 2024 was already witness to Reddit setting up Reddit Technologies India and Reddit Community Network India, in Mumbai.

The platform is clearly keen to cater to the needs of its Indian users and ensuring their experience is more localised.

In the July-Sept quarter of 2024, the platform reported a 90 per cent YOY increase in daily unique active users. The platform has also witnessed a 20 per cent spike in female users.

On a daily basis, millions of people globally, are posting, voting and commenting in various communities that deal with their topics and areas of interest. These Reddit communities share content by posting stories, links, images and videos. When the community comments on these posts discussions and debates are triggered. Comments and posts can be upvoted or downvoted, with the most interesting content climbing to the top position.
