Why was a TCS employee sleeping on the sidewalk outside the office?

The employee’s picture showing him lying on the sidewalk with a note conveying that he had informed the HR at TCS that he was penniless and would be forced to sleep on the street if his salary was not paid to him, has gone viral

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been in the news for all the wrong reasons for some time now. A picture of one of its employees, Sourabh More, from the Pune office, has gone viral. Why? The image shows the employee, who claimed his salary had been withheld, sleeping on the sidewalk outside the TCS office, with a note beside him. On the note the employee says that he had been forced to sleep on the street because he was penniless; and that he had informed the HR of his situation.

Sourabh More claimed that TCS owes him months of pending salary.

The company, however, has reportedly told HT.com that the employee’s pay was held back because he had been absent from work without authorisation. The suspension of pay for the period of absence is the standard practice at the company.

More, however, claims that he had reported for work on 29 July but his ID was not recognised/ accepted by the systems at TCS. He claimed to have contacted the HR for his pending pay and was assured that his dues would be cleared but no action had been taken by the company.

Now, according to the company, More has been given a place to stay and is not sleeping outside the TCS office anymore. The company is reportedly handling his case in a fair and just manner.
