MobiKwik Systems has announced a round of senior leadership elevations to drive its next phase of expansion, appointing Dhruv Wadhera as chief business officer – offline merchant payments and promoting two executives across business and governance functions.
The move follows a strong FY26 and aligns with MobiKwik’s plan to scale its merchant ecosystem, sharpen execution, and strengthen institutional governance as it works toward break-even by FY28.
Dhruv Wadhera, who has led MobiKwik’s offline merchant payments business since 2023, now steps up as chief business officer (CBO). With over 20 years of entrepreneurial and strategic experience, including a role as a vice president and sales director at Zomato, Wadhera has driven growth in GMV and revenues, expanded QR, Soundbox and EDC device lines, and built new revenue streams. In his new role, he will lead offline expansion across organised retail, oil & gas, general trade, and devices, with a focus on merchant acquisition, retention, operational excellence, and device economics to support the firm’s 5x device scale-up target by FY28.
MobiKwik also promoted Abhishek Mukherji to senior vice president – Bharat Connect (recharges & bill payments) & online merchant payments. Mukherjee held prior roles at PayU and Airtel Payments Bank, steering the bill payments business through market shifts and delivering sustained growth. He will now also head Zaakpay, MobiKwik’s payment gateway, with a mandate to grow the online merchant payments business 10x by FY28.
Saurabh Taneja has been named senior vice president, governance, overseeing regulatory compliance, company secretarial, and legal affairs. Taneja, who has 18+ years in corporate and regulatory roles at Headout, Zomato and MakeMyTrip, has been key to securing regulatory approvals and enabling new business lines. He will now institutionalise governance, strengthen risk frameworks, and build long-term trust with regulators, customers, and investors.
Commenting on the elevations, Bipin Preet Singh, co-founder, MD & CEO, MobiKwik, stated that the company was entering its next growth phase with a focus on expanding its merchant ecosystem and building new growth engines. He added that as they scaled, it was important that leadership grew from within. He further noted that Dhruv, Abhishek and Saurabh had consistently built, led and delivered results and that their understanding of the business and culture positioned them well to execute with greater speed and create long-term value.
The promotions follow a year of organisational strengthening at MobiKwik, including the appointment of a chief risk officer, a dedicated head of governance, and a board with 63% independent directors — moves aimed at building a resilient, well-governed company for sustainable growth.
