First IBM and now Adobe sets Dec. 8 as the deadline for all employees to get vaccinated or else go on unpaid leaves.

The order by President Joe Biden to federal contractors to have all their employees vaccinated as soon as possible, has made US-based MNCs act swiftly and ask their staff to get vaccinated at the earliest or face repercussions for the same.

Accordingly, Adobe, has directed its employees to get their jabs by December 8 or be prepared to be sent on unpaid leaves.

Gloria Chen, chief people officer, Adobe, wrote in a mail to the employees that as per the internal survey of the Company, 93.5 per cent of the employees at Adobe are either fully or partially vaccinated.

As per the Company’s guidelines, Adobe will consider religious and medical exemptions for employees to not get vaccinated but others will have to fall in line.

Adobe employs about 25,000 employees globally and more than half of them, that is, 52 per cent are part of the US workforce.

Boeing, another US aviation company, has asked all its 1.25 lakh employees in the US to get vaccinated by December 8 citing Biden’s order. United Airlines had ordered its staff to get inoculated by September 27. The staff members were told that those who remained unvaccinated would be terminated or be sent on unpaid leaves.

Similarly, IBM also directed all its employees to get vaccinated by December 8 or go on unpaid leaves.

Multiple MNCs in the US are now following the trend of making vaccination mandatory for their employees.
