The latest updation in the human-resources regulations in Sharjah will see the probation period for government employees being extended from six months to nine. This amendment is aimed at allowing adequate time for Emirati employees to settle in and exhibit their potential and capabilities. This extension of three months will be applicable from the date of appointment.
Khaleej Times reports that the new executive regulation under the Human Resources Law will have to be followed by all government employees in the Emirate of Sharjah. These regulations were drawn by expert national human resource professionals in consultation with government entities in Sharjah.
Government organisations have been directed to submit organisational structure projects for review and approval, to committees formed for the purpose. A manual comprising job descriptions and classifications is also on the cards and will be centrally managed by the Human Resources Department.
The aim is to support Emirati employment by offering coded or newly-created job grades to citizens and children of Emirati mothers, as long as they fulfil the job requirements.
The revised rules state the principles and procedures for hiring people with disabilities too, ensuring they receive the required support across fields, even in education.
Those possessing bachelor’s and master’s degrees and even doctoral degrees will be given special consideration in government jobs and appropriate environment will be provided to them to facilitate the discharge of their duties.
Many new internal committees—with at least three members each—are also being set up across government departments, to specifically look into emergencies and crises, employee grievances, and disciplinary matters.
Additionally, there will be in place a Supreme Human Resources Committee, which will review legislations, assess HR cases, and make recommendations.
