With the festival season having already begun, Amazon India and Flipkart anticipate a deluge of online orders. To ensure timely and smooth delivery for Diwali shoppers, the e-commerce companies are expected to create 1,20,000 temporary jobs.

Post Flipkart’s acquisition by Walmart, the former is now in a position to deal with the festival rush with more offerings and a massive logistics and delivery team. Amazon is now under pressure to match Flipkart’s new-found financial strength and significantly expanded team of delivery boys and warehouse workers.

Both the companies have been investing in strengthening their delivery and logistics areas. 2018 witnessed the maximum investment in marketing and HR by both Amazon and Flipkart.

Total demand for manpower during the festive season this year is expected to be close to 200,000, with demand on the rise in sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), retail, apparel and e-commerce. Additional warehouses and sorting centres have also been established across the country by all the big names in e-retail.
