bp, the global energy company, is all set to establish bp Technical Solutions India (bp TSI), its new centre for its global technical and engineering expertise, in Pune, India.

To be launched in Q2 of 2024, the centre will be owned and operated by bp. The focus will be on building on bp’s existing engineering and technical strengths to deliver high-quality services to its hydrocarbons and new energy businesses, globally.

Job postings were already announced over a month ago, in December 2023. The company expects to have a 400+ strong team by the end of 2024. The size of the team is expected to expand to at least a 1000 in the next couple of years.

Molyama Kromah has been appointed head of bp Technical Solutions India, based in Pune. Kromah, who has been with bp for over two decades, moves from bp’s joint venture with Reliance Industries, in Mumbai.

Pune is the ideal location for the CoE given that it houses numerous engineering and technical colleges, offering access to a diverse and rich talent pool. Pune also houses bp’s global business solutions centre and innovation and engineering digital hub, which has played a critical role in the transformation of bp’s business processes.

Giovanni Cristofoli, senior vice president for bp solutions, is excited at the acceleration of the “transformation of how we do engineering in bp. India’s large technical talent pool and successful track record of establishing global capability centres across a broad range of industries positions it as an ideal destination for the hub. bp will benefit from accessing talent across all engineering disciplines to meet our current and future demand.”

Sashi Mukundan, bp regional president and head of country, see this as “a significant step forward for bp in India. The centre will allow us to provide innovative solutions for bp worldwide as we tap into India’s diverse and skilled workforce and expand our footprint in the country.”
