Amazon India has taken a step to promote inclusivity in the workplace by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). This collaboration aims to offer career opportunities to former service personnel.
This effort reflects Amazon India’s dedication to diversity, fairness and inclusion in its workforce. The MoU highlights Amazon’s commitment to fostering a workplace that appreciates different viewpoints and embraces people from varied backgrounds.
The MoU marks a big step as Amazon India and the Indian Coast Guard join forces to create meaningful career paths for ex-service personnel. Through this collaboration, Amazon India will work with the Indian Coast Guard to support veterans in transitioning to corporate careers, either at Amazon or in other corporate roles. This initiative underscores a joint commitment to empowering veterans in their post-military careers.
Amazon India has been steadfast in offering fair chances to various communities, such as women, LGBTQIA+, military veterans and differently-abled individuals. This joint initiative aligns with Amazon India’s ongoing commitment to diversity efforts.
In August 2019, the company introduced the Military Veterans Employment Programme in collaboration with the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO).
The programme aimed to open up many job opportunities for military veterans and their spouses in Amazon’s fulfilment network across India. Recently, Amazon India reiterated its support for ex-service personnel by renewing its memorandum of understanding with the directorate general resettlement (DGR). This agreement allows Amazon India to benefit from the valuable skills of veterans, enriching its talent pool.
