Some employees of Apple have written to the management of the tech major expressing their disapproval of the new hybrid policy, which fixes three days of work from office and two days of work from home.

The employees feel this kind of fixed days for working from home and office is not ‘flexibility’. They feel that forcing employees to work from office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from home on Wednesdays and Fridays actually deprives them of flexibility and is a waste of time and resources.

The letter says that the new model of work is “driven by fear” and uncertainty, and that it is a way to ensure control over the workers.

It is reported that almost 76 per cent of the employees are unhappy with the new model.

Most employees feel that the new hybrid model actually makes collaboration difficult. In fact, a significant portion of the workforce feels that remote work facilitated more international collaboration, which was not prevalent earlier; that remote working actually made it possible for everyone to feel valued and meaningful irrespective of their location.

While the employees do not want work-from-home to be imposed on everyone, they feel it is better for the employees themselves to decide when and from where they should work.

Apple’s hybrid model was to actively come into force starting 23 May, 2022.
