A collaborative skill development programme by NSDC and Essar Foundation, named ‘Ajeevika’, is expected to kick off by June 2015 in Delhi NCR and Ahmedabad.
In a move that will benefit the underprivileged sections and underdeveloped regions of the country, Essar Foundation, the CSR arm of Essar Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Skill Development Corporation to provide job-oriented training to individuals in need.
The first phase will see the partners providing skill development training to 1,000 youth across eight cities. Individuals can choose between a wide range of options such as tele calling, marketing and sales skills. Around Rs. 40 Lakhs will be infused into the programme by Essar Foundation to ensure linkages towards employing the trained youth.
NSDC will execute the identification, training and management of the structured skill development programme. As an active contributor of skill development programmes in rural and semi-urban areas, Essar foundation hopes to take its efforts of creating a better society even further through this initiative.
