At a time when many global corporations are scaling back their diversity initiatives, Future Generali India Insurance Company (FGII) is doubling down on its commitment to inclusion with the launch of a groundbreaking coffee table book titled ‘It’s a Onederful World.’

The launch event, held yesterday in Mumbai, celebrated a significant milestone for the company: Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) now constitute 1 per cent of FGII’s workforce, with 41 employees across 16 regional branches hired within just one year. Notably, women make up 22 per cent of these hires, reinforcing the company’s multifaceted approach to inclusion.

“Inclusion cannot be just a policy—it has to be a lived reality,” said Anup Rau, managing director and CEO, FGII at the launch event. “True inclusion means every stakeholder has a seat at the table, ensuring that the solutions we create reflect the diverse communities we serve.”

The event attracted prominent figures from entertainment and sports, including actor-producer Rana Daggubati, Bharatanatyam dancer Sudha Chandran, two-time Paralympic champion Avani Lekhara, and Bollant Industries CEO Srikanth Bolla.

‘It’s a Onederful World’ showcases inspiring stories of individuals from various walks of life, including FGII’s own PwD employees. Available in Braille and audio formats, the limited-edition book features insights from trailblazers and disability rights advocates including Faye D’Souza, Virali Modi, Nipun Malhotra, and Tiffany Brar, among others.

FGII’s commitment to DEI began in 2022 as a strategic priority, leading to policy changes, awareness sessions, and the launch of inclusive products for the LGBTQIA+ community and women. The company’s achievements stand in stark contrast to the global retreat from diversity initiatives seen in many corporations.

The book also provides information on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, serving as a blueprint for organisations looking to enhance their own diversity efforts.

With this initiative, FGII continues to demonstrate its vision of “leading with a human touch,” setting an industry benchmark for meaningful inclusion that creates real impact for employees and customers alike.
