It is illegal for recruitment agents and companies to charge candidates for any visa processing fee as per UAE law.
India’s ambassador to UAE, Navdeep Singh Puri said, “Between January and June 2017 alone, we have got 792 inquiries about employment offers, and only 66 turned out to be genuine. More than 700 were fake.”
There is a rise in fake job offers by spurious companies. They have fake websites and logos and send offer letters to job seekers. The offer letter looks so genuine that people fall prey to the trap. Job seekers lured by the high salary and other perks end up paying the designated travel agencies for processing of visa, and ‘reimbursable fee’ to the tune of around AED 5000.
In some cases, people get offer letters without even applying for the job or going through an interview and other procedures.

The embassy has a welfare arm, Indian Workers Resource Centre (IWRC), which checks the authenticity of the employers and offers. People receiving job offers can verify the same by emailing IWRC at help@iwrcuae.in.
The envoy said, “Indian job seekers are being lured with bogus jobs with attractive pay packets. But it is a good thing that they are checking with us before accepting these offers. It shows their trust that the embassy will help. And we are happy to have saved so many Indians from falling into the trap.”
