Airport Stars Day: How Akasa recognised the people behind smooth travel

Akasa Air marked the second year of Airport Stars Day, an initiative started in 2025 to recognise the contributions of its airport services teams across India. The day is meant to highlight the people who work behind the scenes to keep air travel safe and smooth, often without being noticed by passengers.

To mark the occasion, the airline released a short film showing the contrast between everyday morning routines and the demanding work of airport staff. The film featured employees from different functions including airport services, cabin appearance, cargo, and security. It aimed to show the teamwork and precision required to keep flights running on time and passengers moving seamlessly through airports.

Airport Stars Day is built around recognising the everyday actions of these teams. Their work covers operational efficiency, service quality, employee support, and above all, safety. The initiative is designed to remind both employees and the public that air travel depends on many people beyond pilots and cabin crew.

The event also reflects how airlines are increasingly acknowledging the importance of ground staff and support teams. These roles involve long hours, strict procedures, and constant coordination, yet they rarely receive public attention. By dedicating a day to them, Akasa Air has created a platform to highlight their contribution and the challenges they face.

The celebration underlines the fact that smooth travel is the result of invisible effort. From baggage handling to security checks, from cabin preparation to cargo movement, airport teams make thousands of small decisions every day that together ensure journeys remain safe and reliable.
