The Karnataka government has planned a three-day sports event for its employees, in which as many as 11000 government employees are expected to participate. The sports meet is to take place in Dharwad and will kickstart on Friday, 28 February, 2020.
Çhief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa, will inaugurate the event at R. N. Shetty Stadium, Dharwad. He has sanctioned a budget of Rs. 2 crores for the mega sports and cultural event, of which Rs. 1 crore has already been released. A number of committees have been formed to handle the smooth running of the event so as to ensure that participants and visitors do not have any problems with respect to food, accommodation, transport and medical care.
S.F Siddangoudar, the president of the district unit of the State Government Employees Associations, told the media in a statement that multiple events will be held in ten outdoor stadiums and six indoor stadiums. A total of 48 sports activities and 28 cultural events will take place in two categories, such as individual and group.In addition, the cultural events will be held in ten different venues over three days.
The winners of the district-level championship will compete with one another to become state-level champions in the event. A total of 11000 government employees will compete with one another in individual and group track activities, such as flat race, javelin throw, high jump and many more. The cultural event will witness competitions in categories, such as classical solo and group recitals, dances and more.
