Allcargo Group, the end-to-end logistics solution company, has launched a 100-acre warehouse in Bengaluru that cost about Rs 800 crore to set up. The facility, which will serve as a warehouse for e-commerce companies, including Amazon, Flipkart and the likes, will create employment opportunities for about 5,500 people.
This the Company’s ninth facility in India, and will offer jobs to the youth of Karnataka. It will integrate the required digitalisation and the best of infrastructure to ensure efficiency and productivity in the logistics space.
The Group intends to expand the facility further, and is trying to buy the nearby land too. More jobs will be created if the warehouse grows and spreads over 150 acres of land.
The Company is already in the process of expanding its facility by 75 acres in Hoskote and is purchasing about 100 acres of land in Nelamangala, Karnataka. It will be investing over Rs 600 crore each on developing the two facilities and making them ready for operation over the next couple of years.
The Group — that has operations in over 180 countries and over 300 offices — is presently being restructured following which it will consider CAPEX planning.
The facility will follow a lease model, and whatever revenue is earned will be again invested to build similar facilities across India, and even in other parts of the world in the future.
