    Aakash Thakur is the new VP-corporate HR at Vardhman Group

    Aakash Thakur, an alumnus of Himachal Pradesh University and IMT Ghaziabad, has taken on the role of vice president – corporate human resources at Vardhman Group.

    Vardhman Group is a vertically integrated textile manufacturer with multiple production facilities across India. The company headquartered in Ludhiana Punjab, India, manufactures and trades in yarn and processed fabric, sewing thread, acrylic fibre and alloy steel.

    Prior to this, Thakur was associated with Omya, a global industry mineral producer, as its director-HR for the South Asia region. He joined the company in the year 2021.

    Thakur is a distinguished HR professional with career spanning diverse industries including multinationals (MNCs), oil & gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, drugs, fertilisers, retail, wholesale, cash and carry operations. Furthermore, he has served across many corporate offices in Asia Pacific, the Middle East and India.

    He has also worked with several renowned companies during his professional journey such as Aarti Industries, Alam Group and Reliance Industries.

    He began his journey with Reliance Industries in the year 2007 as its unit lead-business transformation. As the management representative (MR), his responsibilities included overseeing periodic reviews of knowledge, skills, awareness, and maintaining records of training schedules. In the year 2011, he served as the centre of excellence (CoE), overseeing the performance management system (PMS) of group support services.

    In the year 2012, he was elevated to the role of manager-corporate HR at the company. In this capacity, he was extensively involved in various aspects of e-Learning, strategies and content development. His role also encompassed the creation of e-Learning materials such as web-based trainings (WBTs), instructor-led trainings (ILTs), and computer-based trainings (CBTs).

    Renowned for navigating complex organisational landscapes and fostering effective working relationships at all levels, Thakur has been instrumental in spearheading successful HR initiatives. As a forward-thinking HR leader, he is passionate about creating a positive work culture, nurturing talent, and fostering an inclusive environment.
