    Flipkart’s chief people officer Mekin Maheshwari steps down

    Maheshwari had joined Flipkart in September 2009 as head of Engineering, post which he was appointed as the head of two verticals – PayZippy and eBooks.

    Mekin Maheshwari, who began his career with Flipkart as head of engineering, and went on to become the head of human resources, has stepped down. He was appointed as the chief people officer in December 2013 after Aparna Ballakur the then Chief People Officer had moved out.

    Maheshwari is about to complete two years as HR head at Flipkart.

    Sources close to the development have confirmed this news to HRKatha.

    Maheshwari joined Flipkart in September 2009 as head of engineering, post which he was appointed as the business head of two verticals —PayZippy and eBooks.

    For the time being, he will continue with his current role, till Flipkart is able to find his successor. The search for the same has already been initiated. Post the joining of the new HR head, Maheshwari will move to an advisory role.

    As per reports published in other business dailies, he is planning to turn entrepreneur.

    Maheshwari, who attained his degree in engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, started his career at Yahoo! as ad systems engineer. He spent more than four years at Yahoo! where his last role was that of senior developer for a mobile-based platform.

    His next destination was Ugenie where he spent more than two years, which was followed by a stint at Lulu.com, which again lasted for more than a year.
