Abhishek Mehrotra has been appointed as the new CHRO at CredAvenue, where he will lead the HR function for the debt marketplace platform, which connects enterprises with lenders and investors. Further, Mehrotra will drive an innovative people culture along with a growth mindset at CredAvenue.

Before moving to CredAvenue, Mehrotra headed the HR function for TikTok, a Bytdance company, for various markets in South East Asia, including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Mainland China. He worked with TikTok as a regional HR leader for close to two years.

In the initial part of his career, Mehrotra worked with companies such as Aptech, Convergys and IBM. It was in 2010, that Mehrotra joined Alcatel Lucent India (ALU), India’s largest R&D centre for Nokia in Bangalore. Mehrotra worked with ALU for seven years, which is his longest stint with any company in his career. At ALU, Mehrotra served his last position as director – HR before moving on to join Huawei Technologies as VP and head-HR leading HR for Huawe’s R&D centre in India with over 4000 employees.

Gaurav Kumar, founder and CEO, CredAvenue states how their “business is all about people” and therefore, HR is “one of the most critical and core business functions since our initial days of building a people-centred, best-in-class culture”.

The Company is “passionate about creating a caring, collaborative, and shared work atmosphere that results in happier employees” and Kumar is very clear about “cultivating a diverse, agile, transparent, and enthusiastic work culture”. For this the Company realises the need to have “an HR leader with nuanced understanding and a proven track record of leading our people initiatives to the next phase”.

Following the appointment of a CHRO, CredAvenue will now increase its headcount from 400 to 700 this year. The Company is hiring talent for various tech and management areas at all levels, including freshers, as well as for mid- and senior-level positions.

“CredAvenue is one of the rare start-ups that has followed the people-first philosophy from inception, and that was very evident in the founder’s thinking from the very first time we interacted,” reveals Mehrotra himself. He is eager to start work and introduce “unique practices in learning and development, mental wellness, diversity and inclusion, and upskilling initiatives for enhancing the overall employee experience”.
