Emids, a leading provider of digital engineering, AI and platform solutions to the healthcare and life sciences industry, has appointed Sathiyan (Seth) Kutty as chief artificial intelligence (AI) officer.
Kutty was earlier AI and data science leader, Kaiser Permanente, based out of California. For the past eight years he had been leading the company’s national healthplan’s sales, account management and marketing teams to identify opportunities for growth and customer retention using predictive and causal analytics.
An alumnus of University of Michigan from where he completed an MSc in Industrial and Operations Engineering, Sathiyan (Seth) Kutty served as an enterprise architect with Singapore Airlines for four years, from 1996 to 2000.
He then founded Travelsutra.com in January of 2001.
May of 2002 saw him playing chief operating officer at Exchange Agent Technology (XAT). Three and a half years later, he moved to Senturus as VP, analytics architecture. He spent the next almost four years dabbling in IT leadership, technology development, vendor management, data transformation and strategic roadmaps among other responsibilities.
VMware roped him in for the role of finance business data leader/architect in March 2010. After a two-year stint with VMware, based out of Palo Alto, California, Kutty moved to Tesla Motors.
There, he essayed the role of director of technology for almost a year before switching to The Big Data Company, as VP data science and AI, in May of 2013. Over three and a half years into this role, he moved to TrueMedicines PlusChain to lead Healthcare AI. This role saw him operating out of San Francisco Bay Area for over five years.
It was in 2018 that his association with Kaiser Permanente began.
Now, in his new role at Emids, he will lead the company’s AI and data strategy, helping clients across payer, life sciences, and health technology markets move from AI experimentation to measurable, enterprise-scale outcomes. He will also be tasked with shaping how AI is designed and scaled across healthcare environments, with a strong emphasis on grounding AI systems in a healthcare-specific ontology that reflects real workflows, decision logic and regulatory context.
His appointment comes at a time when Emids is expanding its Service as a Software model, which combines healthcare domain expertise, forward-deployed context engineers (FDCEs), and AI-enabled platforms to deliver more predictable results.
