    Shobha Tanniru is CHRO, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail

    Shobha Ratna Tanniru has been appointed as the chief human resources officer and senior executive, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, effective December 2023.

    Her association with the Aditya Birla Group began in 2008, when she joined as group head – leadership development and learning. For six years, she conceptualised and engaged with businesses to implement talent-management processes for the Group, before moving to Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance in 2014, as head HR and training. She was responsible for HR and training of the 10,000-strong workforce of the company, spread across 400 branches. Six years into this role, she was elevated to the position of chief operations officer and head-HR and training. For almost four years, she took on the additional responsibility of the operations function, including customer onboarding, customer servicing, managing customer life cycle and underwriting and claims, and so on.

    An alumna of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Tanniru began her professional journey with Hindustan Lever as personnel manager – Kandla and Chorwad, in 1997. By 2004, she had become HR manager – organisational development and change. After a successful tenure of over a decade with Hindustan Lever, she moved to the UK as organisation effectiveness director – global finance & info management, Unilever. She was the change management lead for the global iFinance project, which was aimed at transforming the finance processes across the world. The project involved finance employees across 80 countries and three regions.

    HRKatha wishes her all the best in her latest assignment at the fashion and retail subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group.
