All India Graduate Engineers and Telecom Officers Association (AIGETOA) has been complaining that BSNL has not been paying salaries on time even though the telco has witnessed an increase in cash flow and also received financial aid for clearing dues
AIGETOA which represents Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has asked the state-run company to pay the salaries of its 65,000-strong workforce on time. to timely disburse the salary of 65,000 employees.
Employees have not been receiving their salaries on time, as per AIGETOA, which represents 31,000 executives.
The Delhi-based AIGETOA has argued that since the cash flow has gone up and BSNL is also getting a loan to take care of pending dues, the salaries of the staff should be released on priority. Right now, the payment is getting delayed by almost 22 days every month.
After the Cabinet gave its approval to the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) in 2019, BSNL managed to save almost 50 per cent in salary payments. It has also managed to clear pending Capex of Rs 1,450 crore to its vendor partners, including Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE and UTStarcom. It is reported that about Rs 500 crores was paid to Nokia and Rs 400 crore to ZTE to clear Capex dues.
The Association is requesting the management to make salaries available by the last working day of every month.
