Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay’s placement season 2022-2023 saw 1,516 students securing job offers. This is a record high. While 16 students were offered over Rs 1 crore per annum, the highest domestic salary offered was Rs 1.68 crore per year, and the highest international salary package was Rs 3.67 crore per annum. Three hundred pre-placement offers were made of which 194 were accepted. About 65 students have accepted offers from international firms.

The maximum offers were bagged by participants from the computer science department (228). While 214 electrical engineering students bagged offers, 78 students from aerospace engineering bagged offers. Twenty-six students from applied statistics and informatics department got offers, while 33 from biosciences and bioengineering department got offers. About 129 civil engineering students got job offers and 191 from the mechanical engineering department too bagged offers.

The drive saw 384 companies taking part and 324 making employment offers. Of the 300 pre-placement offers that were made 194 were accepted by students. Rs 21.82 lakhs per annum was the average salary package offered this time.

The placement drive this season was conducted in the hybrid mode, that is, both offline and online, with 2,174 students registering and 1,845 actually participating.

The Institute was in the news a couple of weeks ago when it received an anonymous donation of Rs 160 crore. The donation was rightly timed too as the Institute has been working on a very limited budget of late.
