In 2016, the total number of banking jobs is expected to grow by 20–25 per cent and there will be around three million new banking jobs in 2017.
HCL TalentCare, the talent solutions company, has rolled out a Young Graduate Programme (YGP) for Banking, which is a customised training programme designed to transform graduates into job-ready professionals. It will help them secure entry-level jobs in various functions across leading banks of the country.
In 2016, the total number of banking jobs is expected to grow by 20–25 per cent and it is estimated that there will be around three million new banking jobs in 2017. To add to this, around 40 per cent of entry-level banking jobs will require skilled graduates and the YGP for Banking hopes to fill the gap.
Ravishankar B, executive vice-president, HCL TalentCare, says “The YGP for Banking is a one-month residential course designed to transform graduates into sought-after professionals in the banking industry.”
“The programme learning methodology offers a simulating banking environment, providing hands-on experience to students.”
The YGP module claims to provide adaptive, experiential, customised and collaborative learning to the students — from factual to meta-learning. The course has a rigorous and intensive, 10 hours-a- day, training for students and examines them at par with industry standards to suit the needs of clients.
According to Ravishankar, currently customer-facing positions are the most critical in the banking sector.
HCL TalentCare has co-developed a module that will emphasise skill training in critical job profiles, such as client relationship partner, relationship manager/personal banker, banking operations officer, customer service manager/front desk officer and others.
As banks expand their network in tier II and tier III cities, they will need more trained and localised talent. HCL TalentCare plans to source talent from specific geographies, train them and place them in the same geographies.
“This will solve the son-of-the-soil issue for the bank,” says, Ravishankar.
The first pilot project of the YGP for Banking batch has been successfully placed in Yes Bank.
