With effect from January 2021, Mondelez India’s group mediclaim policy will cover live-in partners of its employees, as well as the adopted/dependent children of the domestic partners. For the Company that has been around in the country for about 70 years and is credited with introducing India to Cadbury Dairy Milk and Bournvita, this is a huge step towards strengthening its diversity and inclusion agenda.

Earlier this year, the Company had tweaked its mediclaim policy, shifting to a family floater model, to include same-sex partners, in an attempt to ensure a higher level of equality and diversity within the organisation.

Deepak Iyer, president – India, Mondel?z International, feels that this move will help “all colleagues to be themselves and achieve their full potential.” He is confident that these policy changes will “further liberate and empower” the workforce, and encourage them to “deliver stronger business performance” while the Company pursues its goal of leading “the future of snacking.”

Mahalakshmi R, director – human resources, Mondelez India, believes that the progressive changes in the Company’s mediclaim policy will “encourage colleagues to bring their true colours to work and respect everyone’s diverse perspectives”.

Amongst the very few companies that voluntarily opted for a gender-diversity policy even before the liberalisation of the 1980s, Mondelez continues to drive change and equality even today.

Mondelez India Foods, which is a part of Mondel?z International, is a trusted name in the chocolates, beverages, biscuits and candy space in the country, and known for brands such as Cadbury Dairy Milk, Tang, Oreo, Bournvita, Halls, Cadbury Choclairs Gold and so on. The Mumbai-headquartered company has its sales offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. In addition to a wide distribution network across India, it has a global Research & Development Technical Centre and Global Business Hub in Maharashtra. Its manufacturing facilities are situated in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
