In a significant leadership elevation, Jhuma Sarkar has been appointed as head of human resources at Shapoorji Pallonji BUMI ARMADA JVCs – India, effective August 2026. The move marks a milestone homecoming for Sarkar, who had earlier led the HR function at the same organisation for over eight years.
The appointment brings back a leader with deep organisational understanding and proven expertise in people strategy, organisational development, performance management, workforce planning and talent management. Known for building people-centric organisations and driving HR transformation, Sarkar returns to spearhead the HR agenda for both offshore and onshore projects.
Her career graph reflects over two decades of progressive HR leadership. She began her journey as consultant at TMI Network from May 2004 to November 2005, where she learned the art of recruitment. She then moved to Lodha Group as a senior executive HR from Jun 2006 to Jan 2007 and to Emco as executive HR from May 2007 to January 2008.
From April 2008 to April 2010 she was manager- human resources at Travel Post, followed by manager HR at Tamarind Tours from April 2010 to January 2012 and head of HR at Sharyans Resources, the parent company, from February 2012 to November 2013.
She first joined Shapoorji Pallonji BUMI ARMADA JVCs in December 2013 and served as head of HR till December 2021, driving operational efficiency, greenfield HR set-up, automation, and employee engagement in a turmoil industry.
Post that, she was performance excellence head at Prince Pipes and Fittings from August 2022 to March 2025, vice president HR and then chief people officer at ITM Group of Institutions from March 2025 to March 2026, and then director – people and culture at CLAYCAN from April 2026 to July2026.
