In a bid to deal with the talent crunch being witnessed by the IT industry at the moment, Infosys has created an internal talent marketplace called FLUID. The initiative will see the Company reskill its employees and move up the value chain. This will not only help Infosys control manpower costs better, but also meet future talent requirements as well.

Thirty four per cent of all the talent requirement for Infosys’ digital projects is being quenched by reskilled employees. Additionally, 80 per cent of this reskilled talent has been observed to move to digital projects within a year of upskilling. The Company released this information in its Talent Pulse report for 2021.

About 80,000 Infosys employees have enhanced their skillset with the upskilling programmes, reports the Company.

Further, Infosys has also introduced an internal Skill Tags function, which allots skill badges to identify an employee’s proficiency in various technologies. Presently, there are around 22,000 skill tagged employees in the Infosys workforce. They make up about 29 per cent of the digital solution specialist’s talent.

Out of these, over 6,500 hold premium skill tags in niche areas, which include tags of cloud developer, scrum master, UX designer, DevOps professional and data scientist.

Infosys has also started a system called Digital Quotient, through which it objectively assesses an employee’s digital readiness. With this, employees can track how their skills compare with those of their colleagues’.
