Infosys has been fined €175,000 by French labour authority DRIEETS Île-de-France over shortcomings in its employee working time recording system, the IT services company disclosed in a filing with the BSE.
According to the regulatory filing, Infosys received the communication from the French authority on 24 July, 2026, at 3:30 pm IST. The authority found that the company’s working time-recording system did not fully comply with French labour regulations, citing deficiencies in its reliability, auditability and monitoring capabilities for certain categories of employees.
“The authority found that Infosys’ working time-recording system did not fully comply with French legal requirements, citing shortcomings in its reliability, auditability, and monitoring capabilities for certain employee categories,” the company said in its filing.
Despite the penalty, Infosys clarified that the fine would have no material impact on its financial position, operations or other business activities.
The company also explained the delay in disclosing the development, stating that it was verifying the communication and evaluating the appropriate course of action after receiving the notice.
The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, which requires listed companies to inform stock exchanges of material regulatory actions.
The case highlights the importance of complying with local labour laws governing employee working time records, particularly in jurisdictions such as France, where employers are required to maintain reliable and auditable systems to track employees’ working hours. Such records play a key role in ensuring compliance with regulations related to working time, overtime and employee welfare.
