Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is shifting its policies to support a broader range of workers, beyond just vulnerable groups. As part of this initiative, the Ministry has outlined several changes to boost workforce development and productivity. These updates focus on creating progressive workplaces, extending workforce support, and fostering top talent in the country.

Under the new measures, businesses will be encouraged to create progressive work environments and adopt a skills-first hiring approach. The government will provide greater financial support to companies, including increased salary support caps and enhanced career- conversion programmes, to aid in reskilling workers and addressing technological disruptions.

To help employees advance in their careers, MOM is promoting AI-powered tools such as CareersFinder and career-coaching services through Workforce Singapore (WSG). Additionally, the Overseas Markets Immersion Programme will offer Singaporeans international career exposure, boosting their global competitiveness.

Progressive workplace reforms are also in the spotlight, with plans to raise retirement ages, promote flexible work arrangements, and improve protections for platform workers.

These initiatives, backed by tripartite collaboration between the government, labour unions and employers, are aimed at creating a stable, inclusive workforce that supports Singapore’s long-term economic growth and attracts global talent.
