US-based IT engineering services provider, EPAM Systems is ramping up its operations in India. The firm has hired over 2,000 employees in India this year, bringing its workforce strength in the country to more than 9,000.
EPAM aims to reach 10,000 employees in India by March 2025, as part of its strategic expansion.
India has become EPAM’s second-largest global delivery centre, reflecting its critical role in the company’s global strategy. By the end of 2023, the country accounted for 13 per cent of EPAM’s 53,000 global workforce. The company’s hiring drive is focused on emerging roles, including prompt engineers, AI ambassadors, and AI consultants, to support its wide array of transformation projects in artificial intelligence, analytics, cloud computing, and digital engineering.
Since entering the Indian market through the acquisition of Alliance Global Services in 2015, EPAM has steadily grown its presence. It currently operates from centres in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune and Gurugram.
The latest addition to this network is a new office in Baner, Pune, which marks the company’s third expansion in India this year, following Bengaluru and Chennai.
The Pune office will act as an Offshore Development Centre (ODC) and innovation hub for EPAM’s clients. It will leverage Pune’s strong educational ecosystem and skilled talent pool, aligning with the company’s focus on building a diverse and innovative workforce.
The India expansion coincides with EPAM’s recent acquisition of First Derivative, a UK-based managed services provider specialising in capital markets. This acquisition will enable EPAM to deliver AI-enabled solutions for clients in regulated financial sectors across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
