HCL Technologies, is gearing up to expand its 3,500-strong workforce in Britain. It is looking for talent in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security and digital transformation for its offices in London, Greater London and Manchester, and hopes to hire about 1,000 professionals.

These new hires will be part of the team that supports HCL’s clients in Britain as well as other countries around the world.

Some of HCL’s most important clients are located in Britain and catered to from here. The Company established a foothold in the country way back in 1997. With this next phase of hiring, it will create more jobs for the locals and take forward its commitment to accelerate innovation in the country.

However, HCL is not the only firm that is expanding in Britian. Two weeks ago, the Serum Institute of India announced that it would invest GBP 240 million in Britain, to expand its vaccine business and also to establish a new sales office, which would create job opportunities for the locals.

Infosys is also set to hire 1,000 locals in Britain by 2024. Again, the talent in demand is in the areas of cloud computing, AI, data, analytics, enterprise services and open-source technologies.

Mphasis is planning to invest more than GBP 25 million to set up a centre in Britain. It is expected to create almost 1,000 jobs in the country and serve clients even outside Britain.

Meanwhile, Wipro has also revealed plans to spend GBP 16 million on an Innovation Centre in London, in the next couple of years.

According to RBI data, Indian companies invested more than $1.99 billion in ventures abroad, in March 2021.
