Ride-share company, Uber, is all set to make India its product-design hub. It plans to recruit 1000 people each for its engineering divisions in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. It will be hiring students from campuses with knowledge in the areas of data science, distributed systems, mobile, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

The products being designed and produced in the country, such as Uber Lite, will be exported to Africa, Latin America and other markets. Uber Lite is already being used in 16 nations now.

The Company considers India a very dependable testing ground, as products and programmes that have been tried and tested here are easy to duplicate in other markets. The division set up for this purpose, Uber India Technology, has grown 19 times since its inception. Its revenue grew to Rs 21.5 crore from a few lakhs in just a single financial year ending March 2018— approximately one tenth of the income earned from across the globe.
