7% average increase in employee remuneration at Bharti Airtel in FY 2018-19

The 10,205 strong workforce at Bharti Airtel received an average increase in remuneration (excluding the senior managers) of seven per cent during FY 2018-19.

The Indian global telecommunication services company’s subsidiary, Bharti Airtel Services, moved about 2,700 employees to the rolls of Bharti Airtel during 2018-19. This increased the number of employees, which caused a decrease in median remuneration of employees equal to 21.02 per cent.

As per the information released by the Company, Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman, Bharti Airtel, received an annual remuneration of Rs 310.05 million in the financial year 2018-19. In the previous year, his annual remuneration was only Rs 301.97 million, while the year before last he received a remuneration of only Rs 301.44 million.

Gopal Vittal, chief executive officer, Bharti Airtel India, took home a  remuneration of Rs 209.05 million in FY 2018-19, which was much more than the Rs 169.73 million that he received in FY 2017-18 and Rs 124.02 million in FY 2016-17.

Nilanjan Roy, CFO, Bharti Airtel, who had quit to join Infosys in February, 2019, received a remuneration of Rs 48.87 million.

Pankaj Tewari, company secretary, Bharti Airtel, received a salary of Rs 10.19 million during the financial year, 2018-19.

Badal Bagri, the new CFO, who joined not too long ago, on 1 March, 2019, received an annual salary of Rs 27.78 million.

On an average, the senior management seems to have enjoyed a 4.53 per cent hike in salary during FY 2018-19.
