Recently, big tech giants such as Twitter and the parent company of Facebook, Meta have laid off thousands of employees. After the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, the company cut 50 per cent of its workforce around the world. In this layoff, more than 3500 lost their jobs.

Meta too has laid off 11,000 employees globally. After the Meta layoff, many Indian employees took to social media telling their stories about how they had joined the company in the US, and even moved from India to do so. Some were merely three days old in the company when they heard this dreadful news forcing them to start hunting for jobs again.

In addition to Meta and Twitter other firms such as Netflix, Spotify and Microsoft have also laid off employees in big numbers. So, there is a probability that many Indian employees having H1B visa issue would be struggling.

Addressing this situation, Harsh Jain, CEO, Dream Sports, has said that all Indian employees who have been laid off, especially the ones facing visa issues should look to come back home and contribute towards building and growing high-potential Indian tech companies. He said that Dream Sports is open to hiring such amazing talent.

“With all the 2022 tech layoffs (52,000+!) in the US, please spread the word to remind Indians to come back home (especially those with visa issues) to help Indian tech realise our hyper-growth potential in the next decade!” tweets Jain. He further writes, “We are always on a lookout for great talent, especially with leadership experience in design, product & tech!”

Fewer revenues, winter funding and fewer advertisers are the causes of these layoffs. Many companies have taken cost-cutting measures in anticipation of a recession and have restructured their teams.

When big employers lay off employees in significant numbers, it is an opportunity for others to attract good talent.
