Software giant Amdocs is preparing for a major round of layoffs as part of a reorganisation and restructuring under its new leadership. The company, which employs about 29,000 people worldwide, is expected to reduce its workforce by 7–10 per cent, meaning thousands of jobs could be affected. In Israel, where

Amdocs has around 5,000 employees, several hundred positions are likely to be cut.

The restructuring follows the appointment of Shimie Hortig as president and CEO in March 2026, after the retirement of longtime leader Shuky Sheffer. Hortig previously headed the Americas Group and is now driving changes to redesign the company’s operating model and prepare for the next stage of market growth.

Amdocs has already carried out multiple rounds of layoffs in recent years. In 2023, the company cut about 2,700 jobs in two waves, including around 300 in Israel. Another 1,500 employees were laid off in 2024, followed by several hundred more in 2025.

The latest cuts are part of a broader plan to strengthen Amdocs’ global leadership while streamlining operations. The company has said that Israel will remain strategically important, but details of the restructuring are still being finalized.

Naturally, the layoffs add to ongoing uncertainty for employees and highlight the pressure facing large software firms to balance growth with efficiency.
