J&K State Govt. approves two years of leave for working mothers

This ‘Child Care Leave’ allows the employee a maximum period of 730 days off duty during her entire service.

The State Government of Jammu and Kashmir has approved leave of two years for employees who have become mothers.

As per this ‘Child Care Leave’, a maximum period of 730 days can be availed by the employee during her entire service, which means she can take care of two children.

The leave can be taken to look after the children’s education, or during their illness and other similar requirements.

The woman employee will be paid leave salary, equal to pay drawn immediately before proceeding on leave, during the period of child care leave. Also, she can combine the child care leave with any other kind of leave.

Although child care leave can be claimed only after completion of probation period by the employee, as a humanitarian gesture, some minimum child care leave can be allowed to a probationer in certain extreme circumstances.

  1. He said the leave could be taken to look after children during illness or for their education or similar requirements. The spokesman said that after approval by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the Finance Department had issued the notification to this effect.
