Cognizant plans to hire 1,500 college graduates across the US by the end of 2026, strengthening its early-career talent strategy as the demand for AI skills continues to grow.

The new recruits will join the company’s technology services business, engineering subsidiary Belcan, and the newly launched Frontier Engineers programme, which is designed to prepare graduates for enterprise AI projects.

The hiring initiative is part of Cognizant’s broader effort to build an AI-ready workforce. The company said it has hired about 27,000 campus graduates globally since 2025, with the latest recruitment drive focusing on expanding its talent pipeline through university partnerships, structured training and mentorship.

A key component of the strategy is the Frontier Engineers programme, which will place technical graduates on accelerated career pathways focused on AI. Participants will work on enterprise projects involving AI adoption, business- process transformation and operational efficiency.

Beyond graduate hiring, Cognizant continues to invest in multiple early-career programmes, including its Fusion Internship, Ignite and Elevate initiatives, as well as registered apprenticeships offered in collaboration with the US Department of Labour. These programmes provide students with practical experience, technical training and professional development opportunities.

The company also maintains recruitment partnerships with more than 40 universities across the US, including the University of Georgia, Arizona State University and the University of Kentucky, to strengthen the flow of industry-ready talent.

According to Cognizant, the 2026 hiring programme will recruit graduates from both technical and non-technical disciplines while continuing to focus on first-generation college graduates and candidates from underrepresented communities.

The move reflects a growing trend among technology companies to invest in campus hiring, apprenticeships and structured learning programmes as they compete to build AI-ready workforces for the future.
