The Kerala government has partnered with the Group of Technology Companies (G-Tech) to help around 600 employees laid off by US-based healthcare technology company CorroHealth find new jobs in the state’s IT sector.
The initiative was announced following discussions between Industries Minister P Rajeeve and representatives of G-Tech, an industry body representing technology companies in Kerala.
As part of the initiative, G-Tech will launch a dedicated recruitment platform exclusively for affected CorroHealth employees. The portal will allow displaced workers to upload their profiles, enabling member companies to match candidates with suitable vacancies based on their qualifications and experience.
In addition to facilitating recruitment, the programme will offer reskilling opportunities for employees whose capabilities need to be aligned with current industry requirements. The training will focus on emerging technologies to improve employability and support faster redeployment.
The initiative will include priority hiring opportunities across G-Tech member companies, a dedicated recruitment portal and technology-focused upskilling programmes for eligible candidates.
The state government said the move forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen employment opportunities in the technology sector while supporting workers affected by layoffs.
Kerala is also preparing a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) policy, aimed at attracting more technology investments and creating additional employment opportunities for skilled professionals in the state.
The initiative reflects the growing emphasis on collaborative workforce-transition programmes, with governments and industry bodies increasingly working together to support employees impacted by restructuring and changing business conditions.
