The state of Karnataka now has its own ‘Skill Connect’ portal, which will help those seeking jobs find suitable employment by connecting them with employers from various industries and sectors.
Those looking for jobs can search for suitable employment in industries, such as automotive, banking and finance, hospitality, IT-enabled services (ITeS) and manufacturing.
Job seekers can register on the website and upload details regarding their skills and educational qualifications. Employers searching for suitable candidates can go through this information, and upon finding a suitable match, directly get in touch with the candidates without having to go through any intermediary.
Similar initiatives have been taken recently by the governments of Goa and Maharashtra too.
Reeling from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, this portal is Karnataka’s way of proving its commitment to reviving the economy and giving a push to industrial activities.
The portal only lists the jobs available in the state, and many employers have already advertised vacancies and their requirements on the portal.
In fact, 45 vacancies have been announced by Blue Matrix alone, in Hubli. The potential candidates are being offered a salary of up to Rs 15,000.
The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) is planning to organise a job fair for those who have registered on Skill Connect. This will be an interactive event, which will benefit both job seekers and employers.
