It hasn’t been long since Meta invested $14 million in Scale AI and hired Alexandr Wang, CEO, of Scale AI to head its Superintelligence group. Now, employees have been told that Scale AI is restructuring its GenAI group and aiming for better efficiency and smoother and streamlined operations.
It is reported that Jason Droege, interim CEO, Scale AI, informed employees in an e-mail that the GenAI group—that works on its AI chatbots such as Grok and Gemini—is being restructured. The move will affect 200 full-time staff members and 500 contractors from its 1,400-strong workforce.
The impacted employees will receive their normal salary till 15 September, and additional four weeks’ pay on signing the company’s severance agreement, reports BI.
The affected employees were reportedly removed from Slack and denied access to official systems rather abruptly. According to Business Insider, the employees were told that they need not come into office so that the restructuring process could be carried out smoothly and the affected people could have the required space.
Last month, post Meta’s investment into Scale AI and purchase of equity in 50 per cent of the startup, certain important clients of Scale had even stalled some of their projects wondering about the sustainability of the firm in the longer run. Post Meta’s investment, many from the senior ranks of Scale AI had also exited the company.
