An unconventional resignation email has gone a viral. The amusing mail reflects the frustration of the sender and has caught the attention of social-media users. The email, shared by Rishabh Singh, co-founder, EngineerHub, was posted on X (formerly Twitter) and has sparked widespread discussion.
Titled ‘Resignation Letter’, the email begins in a straightforward manner but quickly takes a witty turn. The employee humorously notes that despite two years of dedication and hard work, his salary has remained “as frozen” as his “hopes for an increment.”
The tipping point for the resignation, the mail reveals, is the inability to afford the iQOO 13 smartphone, priced at Rs 51,999. Highlighting his dilemma, the employee quips, “How will my career move fast if I don’t have enough salary to buy the fastest phone in India?”
The email concludes with the employee announcing his last working day as 4 December, 2024.
He thanks the company for the experience and assures a smooth handover of responsibilities. The resignation’s candid and humorous tone has resulted in varied reactions. Many users appreciated the employee’s creativity, with some suggesting the company should gift the phone to him to retain such talent. Others joked that it resembled a phone- promotion campaign.
This incident follows a trend of candid resignation letters gaining attention online. In a previous instance, an employee from Ghana humorously stated their openness to return if their new role didn’t work out. Both cases highlight a growing trend of employees using humour and honesty to navigate career transitions, resonating with audiences who appreciate the relatable frustrations and aspirations behind such decisions.
